China-Made Bathroom Mirrors Occupy The Main Market In France, Mostly From Zhejiang And Guangdong
In 2021, China-made bathroom mirrors and other glass mirrors accounted for 65% of France’s total imports of glass mirrors that year, reaching €101 million.
In the last two years, the French mirror market growth reached 59% for both framed and frameless hand mirrors, pocket mirrors, furniture mirrors, bathroom mirrors, lighting mirrors, decorative mirrors, etc.
In 2019, France imported 57 million euros of glass mirrors from China, accounting for 58% of its total imports. And by 2021, Chinese-made mirrors already account for 2/3 of the French market. Among them, framed mirrors accounted for 72% of the total value of imports, and frameless mirrors accounted for 28%. Among the exporting provinces and cities, Zhejiang ranks first, followed by Guangdong, Shandong, Jiangsu and Fujian.
The main import demand from France comes from home furnishing retail chains, and partly from furniture manufacturers and bathroom manufacturers. French bathroom manufacturers import mirror parts from China. They assemble and artistically transform them locally, and then sell or export them to other countries.
According to French media reports, there is only one local silver-plated production line of Aurys in France. And its export value is 43 million euros in 2021. Its main export destination country is Germany, followed by the UK and the US.
